Geneva, Switzerland - Stromasys announced today its Alpha virtualization and emulation products CHARON-AXP. The CHARON-AXP family of products are software products running on modern 64-bit Windows systems and emulating the legendary Alpha computers of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC, now HP). The virtual Alpha created by CHARON-AXP permits the installation of the OpenVMS operating system and the execution of the binary user applications without any modification or recompilation. This allows the user to migrate his applications immediately and inexpensively to commodity server systems, preserving current investments.
The CHARON-AXP for Windows products announced today emulate pre-1998 single CPU Alpha systems on HP Proliant Windows XP platforms, allowing OpenVMS applications to run without being modified. Detailed information about the CHARON-AXP products can be found here. HP provides support for OpenVMS operating system and its layered products on the CHARON-AXP emulators running on HP systems. More information about HP license transfers and support on CHARON-AXP can be found here.
