Stromasys
and The Logical Company will show the CHARON-11
and CHARON-VAX emulators of Stromasys at the Compaq Enterprise Technology
Symposium 2001 in Anaheim, CA. These products
will be demonstrated from September 10 -
12 in booth 712 of the Encompass Expo in
the Anaheim Convention Center. The open
hours are:
Monday September 10, 2001............12:00
noon - 5:45 pm
Tuesday September 11, 2001.............9:30
am - 6:30 pm
Wednesday, September 12, 2001.......9:00
am - 4:00 pm
In addition to the product
demonstrations, experts are available to
discuss specific emulation projects, including
maintaining existing Qbus or UNIbus hardware
on emulated systems, for which The Logical
Company produces adapter products in collaboration
with Stromasys. For
volume projects, The Logical Company has
the capability to build new plug compatible
PCI replacement hardware for Qbus or UNIbus
hardware, optimizing reliability and cost
of ownership.
The CHARON-11 emulator is
designed to replace existing PDP-11 systems
with modern Windows platforms without having
to change the existing binary PDP-11 code,
irrespective of the PDP-11 operating system
used. There is no need for application source
code and the existing PDP-11 binary code
is not altered and the existing PDP-11 operating
system is used. CHARON-11 is specifically
designed to replace complex process control
systems and is currently being used around
the world in industrial, financial, medical
and scientific applications.
The equivalent product emulating
VAX hardware, CHARON-VAX, was designed by
Stromasys specifically
to prolong the usability of legacy MicroVAX
applications by enabling transfer to new
hardware platforms without any conversion
effort. Like CHARON-11, CHARON-VAX includes
a set of tools to facilitate transfer to
the new platform without requiring the original
source code or software installation information.
In collaboration with Compaq
Computer Corporation, CHARON-VAX passed
the standard VAX product verification using
the standard VAX hardware verification software
and procedures provided by Compaq. These
tests included passing 100,000 error free
test runs for each VAX instruction type
against the formal VAX design standard.
Following their acceptance of the CHARON-VAX
emulator, Compaq plans to make transfer
licenses available permitting current VAX
customers to move their existing Compaq-licensed
software to CHARON-VAX.
Stromasys
has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland,
and sales offices in the Benelux, France,
Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and North America.
It specializes in helping companies preserve
