The PersonalAlpha software lets you run your Alpha/OpenVMS software on a standard Personal Computer. Imagine running your VMS- programs on your office PC, notebook or computer at home. Develop, test and run Alpha/OpenVMS applications wherever you are. This product proves that Alpha-virtualization in software is possible and commercially available.
PersonalAlpha is the 32-bit introduction to a suite of 64-bit Alpha Virtualization Software products CHARON-AXP for Windows. These solutions allow to replace Alpha computers without changing the applications. We have software available for the DEC3000-AXP series and the early AlphaServer systems like the AlphaServer 300, 400, 800, 1x00, 2x00 and 4x00. .
PersonalAlpha can be installed on 32 bit computers that run Windows XP. It offers support for 96 MB of Alpha memory, 1 Ethernet adapter, VT-terminal emulation and 2 disks. Minimum system requirements: PC or notebook with Intel or AMD processor (at least 1 GHz), 1 GB of memory is advised for proper system performance (512 MB will run with performance penalty), 1 Ethernet adapter and 4 GB of free disk space. When run on a well performing PC/notebook you can expect 75-100K Dhrystones and 25 MIPS Whetstones as performance.

NOTE: the PersonalAlpha license does not include OpenVMS licenses or the operating system itself. We advise you to use your OpenVMS hobbyist license for this purpose. After installing OpenVMS and applying your OpenVMS licenses you are ready to run.
