Software Resources International publishes the CHARON newsletter to keep customers, potential customers and partners informed about the recent changes in CHARON product offerings and functionality updates.

The June 2006 edition of the CHARON Newsletter announces the availability of new CHARON-VAXstation products and CHARON-AXP products. The Newsletter also describes important maintenance releases of CHARON-VAX.
The June 2006 Newsletter also announces the forthcoming CHARON-VAX training events and includes the usual updates on new Value Added Resellers and the standard reminder about operating system and layered products licensing support.
2. Announcing CHARON-AXP for Windows, Alpha emulation and virtualization products
Software Resources International is now offering Alpha virtualization and emulation through the following products:
• CHARON-AXP/4000 for Windows.
• CHARON-AXP/3000 for Windows.
• CHARON-AXP/1000 for Windows.
• PersonalAlpha for Windows.

3. Announcing HP support for OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS Layered Product Licenses on CHARON-AXP emulators
HP provides the following extension licenses for the CHARON-AXP environment, allowing Alpha systems running OpenVMS and Alpha system layered products and licenses to be transferred to the CHARON-AXP environment. For emulation that does not require additional LMF units on the target platforms, the licenses listed below must be purchased for the appropriate target platform.

4. Announcing CHARON-VAXstation for Windows products
Software Resources International is now offering VAXstation emulation and virtualization through the following set of pre-configured CHARON-VAXstation for Windows products:
• CHARON-VAXstation/128Plus for Windows.
• CHARON-VAXstation/128 for Windows.
• CHARON-VAXstation/64 for Windows.
• CHARON-VAXstation/32 for Windows.
• CHARON-VAXstation/Notebook for Windows.

5. CHARON-VAX maintenance releases
CHARON-VAX/Xx (Plus) version 3.1.62 is available for installation. GOLD and PLATINUM supported customers will automatically receive license updates and installation instructions within the coming four weeks. The CHARON-VAX license key must be specifically updated to run version 3.1.62.
This release includes the following functionality upgrades.
• The CHARON-VAX Launcher displays an error message when running an
expired license.
• The release notes are updated to reflect the correct process in case
of difficulties with starting CHARON-VAX as a service or running CHARON-VAX
on systems enabled for Digital Execution Protection (DEP).
• SCSI check now works on Windows 2003.
• The dialogue menu for creating a service through the CHARON-VAX
launcher has been improved.
• A CHARON-VAX MicroVAX II can now boot Ultrix version 2.
• Some errors in serial line processing were corrected, e.g. lines are
no longer dropped and are correctly assigned.
• The VAX date and time parameters are saved even if the host system
is stopped while CHARON-VAX is running.
• In addition some other bugs are fixed.
